Obituary

Mary Louise Fiecko

Mary Lou was called by God on the first day of spring, March 20, 2013, at the age of 90. Mary was born December 4, 1922 in Tampico IL to Vernon Dewey Wood and Alpha Isabelle Wood. She dearly loved her brothers, Vernon Dewey Wood Jr and Robert Leroy Wood. Mary graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford IL in 1940. After graduation she moved to Los Angeles and met her future husband, Chester Fiecko, who was from Racine WI. They were married for 53 years until Chet passed away June 13, 2008.

To know Mary was to love her. Her smile and her good nature brought joy to everyone in her life. Mary had a big heart. She was always concerned about the needs of others before herself. She was the best daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend that you could have. If you knew her, you truly felt touched by angel.

Mary is survived by her brother, Bob Wood of Loves Park, IL; daughters, Joanne Briggs of Sunnyvale, Jeanne (Mark) Michaelis of Red Bluff; son, John Fiecko of Ventura; granddaughters, Katherine (Travis) Collins and Christine Briggs; great-grandsons, Elijah Briggs Davis and soon to be born baby Collins and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Junior, niece Candy McFall and son-in-law, Tim Briggs.

Special thanks to Mary’s dearest friends, Manuel and Jennie Garcia, whom Mary first met as neighbors when she moved to Ventura 45 years ago and to John Fiecko who lived with and cared for Mary.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am, Monday March 25 at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Mary enjoyed her church family and friends at OLA and Sacred Heart Parish.
