Obituary



John M. Phillips, 67, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

John, son of the late Frank and Mary (Mikulis) Phillips, was born in Lawrence on March 14, 1946. He graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1963 and went on to serve our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

For forty two years prior to his retirement, John was employed with the former Frank C. Meyers Co. in Lawrence. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed all sports, especially playing golf. He bowled and played horseshoes, was an avid card player and particularly enjoyed playing 45’s.

John will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Nancy M. (Petzold) Phillips with whom he would have celebrated 43 years of marriage on April 11; three sons, Shawn M. Phillips and his wife Patricia of Lake Placid, Florida, John F. Phillips of St. Petersburg, Florida and Steven R. Phillips and his wife Jaime of Pelham, New Hampshire; one sister, Mary Monahan and her husband James of Seabrook, New Hampshire; one brother, Frank Phillips and his wife Diane of Lawrence; five grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, John, Allison and Jessica and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joan Stevenson of Salem, New Hampshire and Ann Quarrell of Lawrence.

Family and friends will gather for visiting hours in the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 4-7 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 9 AM. Interment will be private.
