Obituary

MALDEN: Peter Paul Aiello, 56, formerly of Gloucester, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his residence following a long and courageous battle with COPD. He was the fiancé of Lorraine Spinella.
Born in Gloucester on February 24, 1957, he was the son of the late Thomas and Emily (Pike) Aiello. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1975.
As a young man, Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, having attained the rank of sergeant. He also served the city he loved, Gloucester, as a school committee member for two terms in the 1980’s.
He held various jobs throughout his life from commercial fishing to postal work. He was also the manager of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion and was employed at Bertucci’s Restaurant in Peabody for several years before retiring due to his illness.
Peter loved his sports and was a huge Red Sox, Patriots and Boston Bruins fan, never missing a game. He also loved the ocean and deep sea fishing. Peter’s kindness and sense of humor were legendary and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to Lorraine, the greatest love of his life were his children, Jennifer, wife of Mohammed Masri, Katie, wife of Jeremy Barber, Erin, wife of Trevor Karl and Elizabeth, wife of Mark Rowland, and especially his grandchildren, Alexis, Hannah, Oliva, Ella, Trevor, Sophie, Sydney and Tenley. He was happiest whenever they were with him. He is also survived by his brothers, Tom, husband of Debbie Aiello, John, husband of Maryjane Aiello, Steve, husband of Ann Aiello and Marco, husband of Jill Aiello and close friends, Brenda Walker and Janet Andrulli, who were always there for him; as well as twelve nephews and nieces and many aunts uncles and cousins.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Please omit flowers. Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Visiting Nurse & Community Health, 37 Broadway, Arlington, MA 02474. Interment will be held privately.
