Mr. Russell D. Lowe, a resident of Andover since 1974 and beloved husband of 47 years to Joyanne (Garrish) Lowe, died peacefully at his home following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 7, 1941, he was the beloved son of the late Ernest A. and Elizabeth A. (Shamelian) Lowe. Raised in Cambridge, Russell was a graduate of the Ringe High School and Franklin Technical School. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Cambridge Electric Light for more than 36 years and retired in 1998. In his spare time, Mr. Lowe was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was also a man that took good care of himself, working out regularly. Russell was an active member of the Lawrence Elks, where had made many of his friends. Above all, Mr. Lowe was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Besides his beloved wife, Joyanne, Russell will be very sorely missed by his loving children; Christopher J. Lowe and wife Ashleigh S. of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Kimberly A. Gullikson and husband Michael S. of Denmark, Maine and the late Russell D. Lowe of Andover, Mass. He was also the loving father-in-law of Maura (Dunn) Lowe of Andover, Mass. Devoted brother of Frances Eatough and husband Marvin of Somerville, Mass, Ronald Lowe and wife Judy of Lunenburg, Mass and the late Ernest A. Lowe Jr and wife Diane. Cherished “Papa” of Jamie, Ryan, Nick, J.T., Cody, Riley and Alex.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Ballardvale United Methodist Church, 23 Clark Road, Andover, Friday, March 22, 2013, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends respectively attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was held in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
