Frank Edwin Presby, passed away at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Ft. Gordon, GA on March 18, 2013 following a brief illness. Born in Roanoke, VA, May 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Frank S. and Anna L. Caulwell Presby. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard A. Presby.
Frank is survived by his wife of forty eight years, Joyce P. Killion Presby; two sons, Colonel Timothy D. Presby and wife Nicole, Stuttgart, Germany; Christopher R. Presby and wife, Dr. Marisa Braun, Arlington, VA; Four grandchildren, Alison, Reed, Ian and Tate Presby; a sister, Maryann Owens, Fargo, ND and several nieces and nephews. He was of the Catholic faith and was raised by the Sisters of Charity. Frank served twenty years in the U.S. Navy and spent his entire career in the submarine force, serving on diesel, fast attack and FBM submarines.
Frank was a devoted family man and doted on his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing golf and computer games. Frank will be remembered by a host of friends including the Simmons family in New Tazewell, TN with whom he lived for a period of time.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the home of the family in Evans, GA on March 20, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers those desiring may send donations to the Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or the Lymphoma Foundation.
