Ruth T. Thomas, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died on Monday, July 26, 2004 at Welstone Kennestar Hospital in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM, Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Rev. Gerald Thomas and Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 9:00, Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Thomas was born March 1, 1937 in Phil Campbell, Alabama, to the late O.M. and Lois Phillips Thomas. She was a 1955 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, attended ABAC and graduated from Albany State University at the age of sixty with a degree in Special Education and taught school in Turner County, Irwin County and Coffee County. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald and the Connie Sexton Sunday School class. She was a member of the Pilot Club and an avid gardener.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband: Gerry Thomas, Fitzgerald; two daughters: Randi Karen Paulk, Powder Springs, GA and Leslie Marie Heath, Fitzgerald; one step-son: Allen Heath, Frisco, TX; two sisters: Louise T. Guardia and Dixie T. Hargrove, both of Fitzgerald; one brother: James Phillip Thomas, Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Paulk.
