Gene Allen Porter, age 76, of Douglas, GA passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Mayo Clinic in Waycross, GA following an extended illness. Mr. Porter was born on November 21, 1939, in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Tiney Porter and Mary Ella Dale Porter.
Survivors include: his daughters, Mary Helen (Rick)Fogle, of Waycross, GA and Gena Porter Becerra, of Douglas, GA, four sons, Danny Wayne Porter, Darrell (Carla) Porter, Nickey Allen Porter, and, Jeremy Boyd (Heather) Porter, all of Douglas, GA, three brothers, Bill (Sheila) Porter, of Monticello, GA, James Porter, of Waycross, GA, and Curtis Porter, of Douglas, GA, sister, Linda (Dan) Thomas, of Douglas, GA, twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Sue Porter, daughter, Debra Jean Hursey, and grandson, Dakota Porter.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19 from 6-9 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 4 :00 p.m. at Harvest time Church of God with Rev. Bobby Pope, and Rev. Sidney Thomas officiating. Interment followed at Roxie Mae Church Cemetery.
