On March 18, 2013, Mary Ellen Howard achieved eternal health as she went to be with her maker.
Mary was born on November 27, 1937 in Houston and made her home in Flatonia in the early 80’s. She loved nature and raised many kinds of animals on the farm. She especially loved sitting on her porch, watching the hummingbirds. Her grandchildren spent summers in Flatonia where Mary taught them the value of hard work, a love of animals, the value of life and how to have fun.
She spent her last days in her home surrounded by those who loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David K. Howard; her sons, Richard J. Sellers and wife Connie of Flatonia, Michael Burns and wife Anita of San Antonio and Kenneth Burns and wife Paula of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Muldoon Baptist Church, a member of the Rebecca Lodge and a past member of the TEEA.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Burns; brother, Carl Bruce and her mother, Elizabeth Walker.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday March 19, 2013, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors at this time.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday March 20, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange.
Interment will follow in Pitman Cemetery near Muldoon.
