Obituary

Bertram M. Towle, 90, of Dartmouth died March 15, 2013 at Brandon Woods after a period of declining health.
Born and raised in St. Albans, VT, son of the late Cleo and Lillian (MacKay) Towle, he lived in Boston many years before moving to New Bedford 12 years ago and then to Dartmouth one year ago.
He was retired from Green Mountain Railroad in Vermont. Mr. Towle was also an art teacher at School of Practical Art in Boston.
Mr. Towle was a fine artist who shared his talent with many and was a member of the Bierstadt Art Society in New Bedford. He will be remembered for his life long passion for learning.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include 2 sons, David Towle and his wife Jennifer of Waltham and Jonathan Towle and his wife Christine of Hudson; 2 daughters, Verna Miller and her husband Richard of Hyde Park and Cynthia Spence and her husband Thomas of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Barbara Towle and Betty Bingham, both of Essex Junction, VT; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife and friend Anne O. Towle of Dartmouth and his dear friend of many years Janice Thalin of Bridgewater.
He was the father of the late Dawne Lisa Lee and the brother-in-law of the late William Bingham.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth for their compassionate care.
His private funeral arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
