Obituary

Helenor C. (Lyons) Glennon , 90, of Manchester, died peacefully surrounded by her family on March 15, 2013 following a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester, June 10, 1922 to Joseph P. and Ann M. (Burke) Lyons.
Helenor was a lifelong resident of Manchester. She was a graduate of Manchester High School West class of 1940 B and Hesser Business College.
During World War II and many years thereafter, she was employed by the United States Treasury Department in the War and Savings Bonds Division. After her children were enrolled in school, Helenor worked as a reading teacher in the Title I program at many elementary schools within the Manchester School District.
Helenor was a member of St. Raphael Church and the parish Woman’s Guild. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Epsilon Master Chapter for 64 years.
Following her retirement, she and her husband traveled and spent many winters in Plantation Key, FL with friends.
Family members include her four children; Martin K. Glennon and his wife, Caroline, of Manchester, Colin T. Glennon and his wife, Sharon, of Bedford, Ann Hoffman and her husband, Kenneth, of Rockville, MD and Barry J. Glennon and his wife, Julia, of Manchester; nine grandchildren, Shane Glennon, Sarah Glennon, Katie Glennon, Beth Glennon, Zachary Glennon, Alex Glennon, Jay Hoffman, Leah Hoffman and Phoebe Hoffman.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Donald F. Glennon in June of 2012 and her siblings, Helen Lyons, Sr. Brenda M. Lyons, O.F.S., Betty Morse, Marguerite Dumm and Thomas J. Lyons.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Mt. Carmel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the care provide to her during her residency.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at St Raphael Church, 103 Walker St., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manchester Policeman’s Wives Association Scholarship Fund, c/o Manchester Police Department, 405 Valley St. Manchester, NH 03103.
