Obituary

Sr. Irene Roy, PM (Sr. Germaine-Therese), 90, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Manchester, died March 15, 2013 at Catholic Medical Center.
She was born in Biddeford, ME on September 20, 1922 to Zephirin and Fresilda (Cyr) Roy. She entered the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1943, made her first profession in 1945 and her final profession in 1950.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in Music from Rivier College in Nashua.
Sr. Irene was a zealous music and elementary school teacher in parochial schools in New Hampshire at Berlin, Manchester and Dover and in Rhode Island at Phoenix and Woonsocket. She retired in 1987 and assumed community services for the Marie Rivier Community in Hudson and Keene. She transferred to St. Joseph Community in Manchester in 2008.
The family includes a sister, Sr. Therese Roy, PM of Methuen, MA; three brothers, Alphonse Roy of Denver, CO, Paul Roy of Lyman, ME and Renald Roy of Hartford, CT; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester. Burial was in Presentation of Mary Cemetery in Hudson.
Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary Retirement Fund.
