Obituary

Mr. Leonard A. Gabryelski III, 59, beloved husband of 35 years to Janet Jacobs Gabryelski entered into eternal rest with our heavenly father surrounded by those who loved him on March 15, 2013 after a brave battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Roverse celebrant.

Mr. Gabryelski, son of the late Leonard A. Gabryelski Jr. and Marilyn Brown Gabryelski, was born in Ft. Dix, NJ. Len spent his childhood in Niagara Falls, NY with his four younger siblings and frequently spent time on Lake Erie where he developed his love for boating and water activities.

He began his 39 year career with Bechtel Power Corporation in 1974 which took him to Maryland, Ohio, Mississippi, Kansas, and he settled his family here in 1989 where he became a devoted employee of SRR at Savannah River Site.

Janet was the love of his life and the memories they had will be cherished forever. Together they raised four children who loved and respected him for the tough yet gentle caring Dad he was. Even in Len’s final days his example of strength and courage will impact many lives for years to come.

Len never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He will be remembered by those who love him for his music, boating, and camping. Family time was one of his greatest joys. Many will share stories of fun, laughter, and love around the campfire for years to come.

Along with his wife, he is survived by four children Andrea Peterson (Marcus), L. Adam Gabryelski IV (Lindsay), Douglas Gabryelski (Nora), and Julie Gabryelski (Tyler).

He was a beloved “Poppy” to four grandchildren, Hannah, Brice, and Cooper Peterson, Callie Blair Gabryelski.

Additional survivors include four siblings, Diane Hurley (Rich), Michael Gabryelski (Susan), John Gabryelski (Anne), and Steven Gabryelski (Sandra) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Dr. S. Michael Shlaer and staff at Medical Oncology Associates of Augusta as well as 10t floor and 6th floor ICU nursing staff at University Hospital for the gentle care given during this difficult time. It gave us great comfort in our hour of need and we are eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd. Augusta, GA 30909.
