GLOUCESTER: Madeline P. (Katz) Linsky, 87, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at her residence following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Theodore “Ted” Linsky, who died in February of 2005.
Born in Lawrence on June 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Esther (Black) Katz. She was a graduate of the Holten-Richmond High School in Danvers.
She had resided in Middleton for many years before moving to Gloucester over sixty years ago. Along with her late husband, Ted, she was the co-proprietor of the family business, Linsky’s Service Station, on Maplewood Avenue since 1953.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Heard Chapter #94 of Ipswich for forty-nine years. Madeline was very proud to have served as an Advisory Board member of Gloucester Assembly #41, International Order of the Rainbow Girls and was honored to have received the Grand Cross of Color, their highest award, for her dedicated service to the Order. She was also a member of the Rockport American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet L. and Gregory Lemnah, Edith and John Montgomery; her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jane (Manninen) Linsky; five grandchildren, Jessica, wife of Michael Spinelli; John Linsky; Josephine Linsky, fiancée of Shawn Lowe; Jacklyn Linsky and Kira Lemnah and her significant other, Matt Dority; a great-grandson, Lucas Spinelli; a soon to be born great-granddaughter, Mia Jane Spinelli; a brother and two sisters-in-law, George and Dorothy Katz and Victoria Linsky; many nieces, nephews and special friends, Dorothy Quigley, Mary Feener and Cheryl McPhee. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Philip Kent and Steven King.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 18th in the Mount Jacob Cemetery, Fernald Street, West Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 17th in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 1 – 4 p.m. Shiva will be observed at the home of Steve and Jane Linsky, 11 Linden Road, Gloucester on Monday, March 18th from 1 – 3 and 5 – 8 p.m. with a Ma’ariv service at 7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
