Janice M. Pina, 58, of New Bedford died March 15, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Louise (Ferreira) Pina of New Bedford and the late Luiz Pina, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Janice was formerly employed as a correctional officer at Old Colony Correctional Center for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her mother; 3 daughters, Yolanda Lebron, Shala Lebron and Kelsey Pina, all of New Bedford; 4 brothers, Robert Pina of Delaware, Issac Pina, Clyde Pina and Kenneth Pina, all of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Janet Costa and Joyce Mendez, both of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Syara, A.J., Laila and Nade'Liyah; 2 Godsons, Cameron Duarte and Tyler Pina; and many nieces and nephews including her close niece Wanda Robertson-Alves.
She was the sister of the late Luiz Pina, Jr. and Loretta Robertson and Godmother of the late Gary Robertson.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, March 19th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, March 18th from 4-8 PM.
