John V. Velozo Jr., age 88 of Somerset passed away March 14, 2013. Born in Fall River, he was the husband of the late Alice (Faria) Velozo and son of the late John V. Velozo Sr. and Myra (Mello) Velozo. He was the proprietor of Brightman Oil Co. and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fall River Country Club and the Liberal Club. John enjoyed playing golf, ballroom dancing and trips to Foxwoods. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the great staff at the Catholic Memorial Home for their love, care and compassion.
John was the companion of Barbara Coulombe of Somerset for many years; father of Craig Velozo (wife Kathleen) of Gainesville, FL; brother of Irene Rezendes of Somerset, Mary Leah Facchiano of Fall River, Myra Ferreira of FL, James Velozo of Somerset; grandfather of Evan and Alexandra Velozo, Tara Velozo Spaeth, John Gary Velozo and great-grandfather of Carsten and Brynne Spaeth. He was the father of the late Gary Velozo and brother of the late David, Henry and Larry Velozo and Norma Perreira. John also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church Monday at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. There Are No Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Catholic Memorial Home 2446 Highland Ave. Fall River, MA 02720.
