Obituary

Anna T. Hoey, of Wilmington formerly of Cambridge passed away peacefully on March 13th, at her home with her loved ones at her side, following a short illness. Born in Cambridge, Anna was one of eight children of the late Francis and Alice (Butler) DeFrancisco.

Anna has been a Wilmington resident for the past six years. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Hoey Jr. who passed away in 2009. Anna met Bill, the love of her life, when they worked together at the Cuneo Press Company in Cambridge. The young couple soon married and spent the next 55 years together. Prior to her work at Cuneo Press, Anna also worked at the Charlestown Shipyard during WWII as a welder and assembly person in the making of planes in support of the war effort.

Anna was mostly devoted to her loving family and enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach, collecting little treasures, and shopping. She was always very generous and enjoyed helping others. She loved animals and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Anna is survived by children, Jacqueline Mitza and her husband Larry of Wilmington, and James Lamoureux of Waltham. She was the loving grandmother of Heidi Mitza and her husband Michael Robertson, Larry Mitza, Amy Schena and her husband Christian, and Matthew Lamoureux. She was the loving great grandmother of Ethan, Lauren, Rachel and Haley. Sister of Kay Shallow of Belmont, and Robert DeFrancisco of Falmouth. Sister-in-law of James D'Antona of Cambridge and dear friend of Florence Cheah of Cambridge. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Anna is predeceased by her siblings, Mae D'Antona, Allie Doyle, Jackie DeFrancisco, Rose Nelson and Fran Beadry.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Monday, March 18th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Anna's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
