Obituary

Joseph L. Finocchio, of Medford, died peacefully at the Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday. He was 86.

Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Palumbo) Finocchio. After his service in the Army during World War II, Joseph embarked on a long career as a civil engineer. He worked for many years with the Metropolitan District Commission and then with the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority. An active member of his community, Joseph served on the Medford Planning Board, was a Member of the Knights of Columbus and was an active member of Saint Raphael Parish. A founder of the St. Raphael Parish Bingo which was established to benefit the parish school, Joseph served weekly for thirty years. Most importantly he was a good husband and father and an extremely proud grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sally (Grealy) Finocchio. He was a loving father to Paul Finocchio and his wife Jeanmarie of Wakefield, Karen Finocchio of Chelmsford, Joanne Erba and her husband Steven of Dracut. He was a proud grandfather to Andrew, Baily and Olivia.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 17th from 4 - 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Funeral will gather Monday morning at 9 for a procession to St. Raphael Church for a mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. 512 High Street, Medford, Monday at 10:00 am.
Burial will be Monday at 11:30 am in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Raphael School, 512 High Street, Medford, MA 02155.
