Obituary

WORCESTER – Mr. Anthony J. Falcone, 95, passed away Wednesday March 13th at St Vincent Medical Center.

Tony is survived by his three children, Anthony J. Falcone Jr. and his wife Elaine of Lunenburg, Angela R. Frohlich and her husband Samuel of Fort Lee, N.J., and Louis R. Falcone and his wife Patricia of Worcester; a brother, Louis Falcone and his wife Marion of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Tony was predeceased by his siblings Lena Bottis, Mary Vescera, Carmela Pingitore, Philomena Catanzaro, Eleanor Valery, and Charles Falcone.

He was born September 14, 1917 in Worcester, Massachusetts the first child of the late Luigi and Angelina (Gabriella) Falcone and a loving husband of sixty-five years to the late Emily D. (Reno) Falcone.

A lifelong resident of Worcester, Tony was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1936. At an early age, he became a member of the Massachusetts National Guard.

He later served his country in the Army as a radio operator during World War II, receiving many citations for his service in England, France, Italy, and Germany. Tony was one of the first to receive training in Radar Detection at the Keystone School in Pittsburgh and then used this important training during the war.

Upon his return to the United States he worked for over fifty-years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Office retiring in 1979.

He was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Loreto Church of Worcester, a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John Council XXIII, and a former District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus.

Tony was an avid bowler in the Auburn Bowling League; he also loved to golf, birdying the last hole he ever played at Dennis Highlands at the age of 92.

His funeral will be held Saturday March 16th at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch Street, Worcester, Ma. with a Funeral Mass at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Loreto Church of Worcester. Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30am.
