Obituary

Toland, William P., Sr. of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 12, 2013.

Beloved husband of the late Evelyn C. (Quinn) Toland.

Loving Father of 8 children. Virginia M. Dollard and her husband Dr. Wayne J. Dollard of Delray Beach, FL, Linda J. McAlice and her husband John B. McAlice of Westwood, W. Paul Toland of Hull, Barbara G. Peterson of Weymouth, Regina S. Bender and her husband Robert M. Bender of Weymouth, William P. Toland, Jr. of Plymouth, Lisa A. Gately and her husband Brian G. Gately of Pembroke and Michelle J. Smith and her husband Richard V. Smith of Kingston. Cherished Papa of 14 grandchildren. Beloved son of the late Frank J. Toland, Sr. and Katherine G. Toland, brother of John P. (Jack) Toland of Brockton, the late Frank J. Toland, Jr., and the Rev. Paul L. Toland.

Bill spent 36 years as a Sales Representative for Martindale-Hubbell, a legal publishing firm, and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada working each Province in Canada and every state in the U.S. with the exception of two. Bill was a Double Eagle, graduating from Boston College High School and Boston College Class of "1950" and he attended St. Joseph's Franciscan Seminary in Callicoon, New York.

Bill's passions included BC football, also Bill was a dedicated volunteer at the Cardinal Cushing School for Exceptional Children in Hanover, Mass.

Bill was a proud member of the "Greatest Generation" serving his country honorably in the United States Navy during WW II. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Dorchester Lower Mills Knights of Columbus Council #180 and Bill was a third-degree Knight.

Bill was a devout Catholic and was a long-time member of the Pastoral Council at Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth, where he served as Head Usher at the 12:00 Mass on Sunday. He will be forever missed by his loving family and all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.

Donations in memory of William may be made to The Cardinal Cushing School for Exceptional Children in Hanover, Mass.
