Obituary

Evans, GA – Alma Davidson Hatcher, 102, beloved wife of the late James Paul Hatcher, Sr., passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Brandon Wilde Life Care Community.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Jacob O Malone officiating. Visitation will follow.

Mrs. Hatcher was a member of the First Baptist Church of Augusta and formally a long time member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and worked in Girls Auxiliary for many years. She also served as a volunteer for The Resource Center on Aging. Mrs. Hatcher loved to travel and among her destinations were Israel, Italy, Spain, England, Denmark, Sweden, China, Canada, and many areas in the United States including Alaska.

Mrs. Hatcher is survived by her son, James Paul Hatcher, Jr. and wife Bess of Hoover, AL; her grandsons, James Paul Hatcher, III and wife Sue Ellen of Greensboro, AL, and Stephen Hale Hatcher of Hoover, AL; and her great-granddaughter, Haley Nichole Hatcher also of Greensboro, AL.

Mrs. Hatcher was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Paul Hatcher, Sr.; her parents, Charles Wesley and Cora Spires Davidson; and by her 7 brothers and 6 sisters.

The family would like to give special thanks to her longtime caregiver, Cynthia Merriweather and the staff at the Arbor at Brandon Wilde for their support and loving care during her final years.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ana Bannister Sunday School Class at First Baptist.
