Obituary

Daniel P. Espinola, 74, of New Bedford died July 20, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Rosa) Espinola, he had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He had also lived in Providence, RI, for 20 years.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mr. Espinola served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a recipeint of the Korean Service medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense medal, the United Nations Service medal and the Parachute Badge.

He was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association. He was an avid bowler.

Survivors include two sisters, Marie P. Espinola and Stella Harrison, both of Los Angeles, California; a step-brother Edward S. Alford; his good friend, Jeanette Barboza of Rochester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was the longtime companion of the late Beverly Oliveira and brother of the late Juvinal P. Espinola.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Monday, July 26th at 9 AM, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery.

Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Sunday, July 25th from 4-8 PM.
