Obituary




WEST YARMOUTH — Richard L. Wing, age 94 years, of West Yarmouth and formerly of New Bedford and New York, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Mayflower Nursing Center after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Marcia Crichton Wing.

Son of the late Lawrence P. and Mildred Deane Wing, he was a graduate of Harvard University where he received his Ph.D. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Richard devoted his life to education teaching in California and Paris and in administration in Westchester, N.Y. and Karisruag, Germany. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren and traveling throughout Europe with his wife. Richard was a life member of the New Bedford Port Society. He retired several years ago to Sandwich.


In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Deborah Wing of Bronx, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Daniel and Emma; and his sisters, Rosalyn Pierce and Priscilla Wing Taylor.

His funeral will take place on Monday at 11 A.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford with friends being received within the hour prior to the service. Burial will be in So. Dartmouth Cemetery.
