Donald "Jack" Toombs

Donald "Jack" Toombs, 87, of Pendleton went to be with his Lord, March 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Jack was born February 2, 1926 in Anderson to Earl and Jessie Mae (Caudill) Toombs.
He was a decorated WW II veteran.
He worked at J.C. Penney, Warner Press, Weiler's, Banner Store, and worked for Hal Reddick Realty and retired from ITT as the Director of Recruitment.
He was the minister of Music for Wesley Free Methodist Church. He was a member of the Freedom Quartet, Army Choir, Singing Evangelist, Alliance Club, American Legion, Playmakers Community Theater, and the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Cathryn (Wilson) Toombs of Pendleton whom he married July 7, 1945; three children, David Jack Toombs (Sharon Toombs); Nancy Rae (Toombs) Weinert (Robert Weinert); Daniel Wilson Toombs; five grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Jackson; Kelli Renae (Jackson) Broadwater (Loren Broadwater); Cheyenne Larie Toombs; Griffin Wilson Toombs and Bailey Danielle Toombs; sisters-in-law, Janet Shaw and Sandra Toombs, nieces & nephews, Cheryl Plank, Michael Toombs; Cindy Blake, Beth Lankford, Susan Brennan; Jill Hannity; Tim Rhodes and Chris Rhodes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tom Toombs and Garland Toombs and a grandson Adam Toombs.
Service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 11 at Wesley Free Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Murphy, Rev. Michael Toombs and Rev. Todd Eckhardt officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and Monday from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the church.
