Obituary

Due to the snowstorm, visiting hours are cancelled on Friday, but the services will be held at the Church on Saturday, March 9, 2013 as scheduled.

Richard “Ricky” Benson Wentworth, II, age 55 of Brockton, died Monday morning, March 4, 2013, at the West Roxbury VA Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Ricky was the son of Eleanor (Jones) of Hyde Park and Richard “Dick” Wentworth of Roxbury. He was born on August 21, 1957 at Boston City Hospital, and grew up in the city of Brockton. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1975 where he was “El Presidente” of the cross country track team. Amongst his many accomplishments, Ricky served in the United States Navy in Naval Intelligence as a radioman stationed in Norfolk, VA. He married a lovely lady, was active in several churches and was a dedicated Youth Group Leader and an accomplished software engineer.
After an accident 1983, Ricky lived life in the body of a quadriplegic but with a truly inspiring will to live an active productive life. He enjoyed a unique sense of humor, was extremely intelligent, truly loved people, ministered his life lessons whenever a soul needed guidance or comfort, was generous to all. His road through life touched many souls. He was a resident at the Brockton VA Hospital where he was a patient advocate and fortunate to have made many friends- some who have passed, and may be in his company now.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” (Sibley) Wentworth of Mansfield, MA; daughter, Kathryn Greenfield of Franklin, MA; grandson, Jack Greenfield; his mother and father, Eleanor and Richard Wentworth; sister, Dianna Hauf, of Windham, NH; sister, Cindy Allen of Ware, MA; brother, Ken Wentworth of Aquinnah, MA; nieces and nephew: Sean Neal, Samantha Rochon, Amanda Burke, and Mary Jablonski.

Visiting hours scheduled for Friday, March 8th from 4-8 pm at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, have been cancelled. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9th at 10 am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 900 Main Street, Brockton, MA, and burial at Beaver Cemetery, East Bridgewater, following the service.
The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care Ricky received at the VA Hospitals throughout the last thirty years of his life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Voluntary Services for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Unit on behalf of Richard Wentworth, 940 Belmont Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
Per the request of Ricky, his wife Peggy, and daughter Kathryn, please feel free to wear ‘happy’ colors.
