HOLYOKE – Estelle B. Aubrey, 94, a former longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, March 4, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Loomis House in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on February 1, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late Napoleon and Cora (Fournier) Aubrey. She was raised in South Hadley Falls until 1921 when her family moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee. She graduated from local schools and furthered her education by graduating from the former Bay Path Institute. Following her graduation, Estelle was employed as a secretary for the late Eddie Shore who was then the owner of the Springfield Indians who were located at the Coliseum Arena on the grounds of the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield. In 1942, Estelle moved to Washington, DC and lived there until moving to Arlington, Virginia in 1959. She returned to Western Massachusetts in 2004 when she moved to Holyoke. She was employed at the Department of Defense and later was a data processor for the Department of Education, both in Washington, DC and retired in 1974. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving brothers, Raymond P. Aubrey and Lester Aubrey; and her close friend of many years, Joseph DeFrancis. She leaves several dear nephews and nieces. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, March 8, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, March 8, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
