Obituary

Worcester- John Kokernak, 86, of 40 Fairfax Rd., died Tuesday, July 20, in Autumn Village Nursing Home, after a brief illness.He leaves his wife of 66 years,

Frances A. (Rosochacki) Kokernak; a son, Robert P. Kokernak and his wife Jean, of Ashburnham; a daughter-in-law, Judith Kokernak of Holliston; a brother, Frank Kokernak of Shrewsbury; four sisters, Alicia Michalak and Elizabeth Titta, both of Worcester, Marion Ushinski of Webster, and Catherine Conrad of Danielson, CT; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Another son, John F. Kokernak, died in 2000. Three brothers, Edward, Anthony, and Felix Kokernak, also predeceased him. He was born in Holyoke, son of Stanley A. and Anna (Dziurgot) Kokernak, and lived most of his life in Worcester and attended city schools.

He worked for 42 years at Johnson Steel & Wire Company, retiring in 1983, and was also on the board of directors of that company’s credit union for many years.

Mr. Kokernak was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish.

The funeral will be held Saturday, July 24, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, in the funeral home.
