Terry Carlton Averitt, age 78 of McMinnville, TN, died on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville, TN.
He was born on March 20, 1934 in Erin, TN to the late Carlton Averitt and Elizabeth Bateman Averitt. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Charlotte Averitt; brother, Kenneth Averitt; and sister, Mary Ann Atkins.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 3 p.m., at Greenwood Cemetery, with Rev. Steve Louder and Rev. David Averitt officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 1-2:30 p.m., at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home.
Terry worked in various fields of the lumber business most of his adult life. He was a member of Clarksville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and also attended First United Methodist Church in McMinnville. He was also a member of Clarksville Masonic Lodge #89. He was an U.S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by his second wife, Bettye Jean Hallum Averitt of McMinnville, TN; son, Matt Averitt (Patty) of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Susan Averitt Hamaker (Gene) of Clarksville, TN; brother, Larry Averitt of Clarksville, TN; four grandchildren, Mary Beth Hamaker Russell, Lyndsay Averitt Koyama (Chad), Katie Averitt Duke (Vince), and Matthew (Matt) Hamaker (Jessica); and five great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Koyama, Avery Russell, Abby Koyama, Kate Russell and Ava Duke.
Pallbearers will be Matt Hamaker, Clint Averitt, Phil Averitt, Larry Lynn Averitt, Randall Coleman, Michael Hallum, and Mark Hallum. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Averitt, Chris Atkins, Kevin Matthews, Jimmy Matthews, Betsy Atkins and Leigh Averitt.
