Obituary

John Anthony Galasso passed away on March 1, 2013 after a brief stay in the hospital at the age of 83.

John was born in Boston and raised in Medford the son of the late Sebastian and Geraldine (Russo) Galasso. After graduating from Medford High School, he enlisted in the Army, serving in World War II as part of the occupational force in Japan. John is a retired member of Local 25 Teamsters. He loved life and enjoyed spending time with his loving family and close friends. He loved to drive and attend school and sporting events of his grandchildren; he stayed fit by walking most days and eating his wife’s authentic Italian meals. He enjoyed occasional visits to Suffolk Downs. John will be missed by his close extended family and many friends.

The beloved husband of Maria Rose (Lepore) Galasso with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, he was a devoted father to John and his wife Katherine of West Bridgewater, Paul Galasso of Reading, James Galasso and his girlfriend Pamela Surette of Malden and Dina Pedrick and Ray of Medford. A loving grandfather to Anthony, Raymond, Nichole, Ryan, James, John, Maria and Briana, John leaves his siblings: Robert Galasso and his wife Pat, Lorraine Smith and her husband Donald.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday March 6th at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 9 AM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Mausoleum, Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home Tuesday 4 - 8.
