Obituary

Anne Prescott Thompson

Augusta, GA - After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s, Mrs. Anne Thompson, 79, passed away at her residence surrounded by her family. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth E. Thompson, and her parents, Wilbur H. Prescott and Lillian Jenkins Prescott.

Anne was a devoted Christian and was a charter member of Advent Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and served as a co-chairman of the Sunshine Committee. For as long as Anne was able, she enjoyed reading, playing bridge, bicycling, walking, and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. In her later years, Mrs. Anne spent many years singing along with Alan Jackson and his Precious Memories CD. This provided hours of enjoyment for her.

After graduating from Waynesboro High School, Anne completed an accounting program at Hurst Business College. She then worked as a secretary for an insurance company and later for Coleman Engineering Company.

Survivors include her son: Mike Thompson and his wife Beverly of Grovetown; her daughters: Kathy Tyler and her husband Larry of Lincolnton; Lee Quinn of Augusta; five grandchildren: Jeff Tyler (Julie), Abby Tyler, Taylor and Sarah Thompson and Kaitlyn Quinn; and one great-grandson, Will Tyler. She also is survived by three older siblings: Dell Prescott Jones of Idalou, Texas; Joe Prescott of Lumber City, GA; and Lamar Prescott of Waynesboro, GA; as well as a double first cousin, Eunice McFeely, who was considered a beloved sister of Anne.

The family would like to acknowledge Odyssey Hospice and Dr. Suzanne Smith for their superb care of Mrs. Anne and also wishes to thank Mrs. Tonia Johnson, whom they consider a “God sent angel”. Mrs. Johnson lovingly tended Mrs. Anne during the last years of her life with her very special touch.
