Shirley F. Joyal, 86, of Alton NH and Clearwater FL, died July 17, 2004 at the Harborside Healthcare- Northwood in Bedford, after a long illness.
She was born on September 15, 1917 in East Hampton, MA and was the daughter of Samuel and Jane(Gordon) Ferguson. She was a long time resident of Warwick RI and was a former member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac RI.
She was a graduate of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in 1938 and became an operating room nurse at the Jane Brown Hospital in Providence, RI. Later she became a public health nurse for the City of Warwick until her retirement.
She and her husband divided their time between their home in Alton, NH and Clearwater, FL. They shared many wonderful times with family and friends and their warm hospitality and generosity towards others will always be remembered by all who experienced it.
The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Harborside Healthcare Northwood for the professional and compassionate care they gave to Mrs. Joyal and for their many kindnesses to her family.
Family members include her husband of 63 years, Lee J. Joyal, of Alton NH; a daughter, Susan Riddle of Derry NH; a son Jeffrey Joyal of Greenville SC; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan, of Bloomington, MN, Rebecca Robinson of Derry, NH, Katie Joyal of Greenville, SC, Jesse Joyal and Courtney Peake of Destin, FL; 5 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation burial took place on August 26, 2004 in the All Saints Cemetery, Warwick RI.
