WEBSTER - Genevieve M. “Jello” Sroczynski, 86, formerly of Aldrich Street, died Wednesday, July 21, in Oakwood Rehab & Nursing Center.
She leaves a sister, Celia Placzek of Webster; a nephew, Henry Sroczynski of Dudley; 3 nieces, Esther J. Zinkus of Worcester, Barbara Corey of Framingham and Marcella Shykula of Boulder, CO; grandnephews and grandnieces. Two brothers, Peter and Leo Sroczynski, and three sisters, Emily Czechowski, Joan Lenky, and Josephine Brezniak predeceased her.
She was born in Webster, daughter of Aloysius P. and Apolonia (Mroczek) Sroczynski, and was a lifelong resident.
“Jello” was a spinner at Maanexit Spinning Company and at Anglo Fabrics Company before retiring. She was also the hostess at the State Line Casino in Dudley for many years.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica and sang for 70 years in its choir and with other local choirs. She excelled at baking and cooking. She also enjoyed floral arranging. She enjoyed making people laugh with her jokes.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 23, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 22, at the funeral home.
