Obituary

David Jackson Rees
March 29, 1946 to February 25, 2013

David Jackson Rees, 66 of Anderson died unexpectedly at his residence February 25, 2013.

David was born March 29, 1946 in Englewood, NJ to James R. & Viola (Waihela) Rees. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1964.

He worked at General Motors.

He served as an intelligence photographer in the US Air Force during Viet Nam War with the 7th Air Force Command of South East Asia. While in the service, his parents sent packages and he passed out treats to the children including lollipops and paper airplanes.

Camping played a role in David's early life, the most interesting being Fellowship Camp in Knoxville, TN. This was an inter-racial, non denominational children's program supervised by volunteer leaders of both sexes from diverse backgrounds--doctors, teachers, religious leaders and homemakers.

He loved world history especially the Byzantine Empire.

He was an avid book collector, reader, antique camera collector and photographer. Photography became his passion and he ordered his first Nikon camera, with the help of Rev. Miyauchi. His photography skills won several awards.

He is survived by his mother, Viola Rees of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his father, professor emeritus, James R. Rees of Anderson University died in 1998.

Private service and burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.

Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service handled the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson University.
