Obituary

LOWELL—John M. Kenney, 78 years old, died Sunday afternoon at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of Pauline A. (Vesey) Kenney, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage in November of last year.

He was born in Lowell, on February 15, 1926, a son of the late Thomas F. and Lillian A. (Smith) Kenney, and was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School and Lowell High School, Class of 1944. He also graduated from Lowell Commercial College.

Mr. Kenney was a U.S. Navy Veteran during World War II and served in Okinawa. Upon his discharge, he was employed as the Office Manager for the Lowell Housing Authority, for over 40 years. After his retirement, he volunteered his time at the former St. John’s Hospital.

Surviving him besides his wife are a daughter: Kathleen Mary Kenney, of Lowell; two cousins: Anne McParland, of Lowell; and Mary Lou, and her husband James Healey, of Dracut; two sisters-in-law: Theresa Kenney, of Lowell; and Dorothy Kraines, of Lowell; also several nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Thomas H. and Francis J. Kenney, and uncle of the late William M. Lunetta and William Kraines.

At his request, there will be no calling hours. His Funeral Mass to be offered Thursday, July 22nd, at 10:30 at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Saints Memorial Merrimack Valley Dialysis Center; 220 Pawtucket Street; Lowell, MA 01854.
