Obituary

Mr. Italo Grassello, of Andover, formerly of Lawrence and beloved husband of the late Athena (Biternas) Grassello, died at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Monday morning, February 25, 2013. He was 85 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on October 18, 1927, he was the beloved son of the late Pasquale and Nunzia (Pellana) Grassello. Italo was a WWII Marine, entering the military on June 12, 1945 and receiving his honorable discharge at the Great Lakes, Illinois on October 22, 1946. He attained the rank of Private First Class and was a qualified Rifleman. While in the Marines, Mr. Grassello served in China. He was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Church in Andover and had worked as a Shop Manager for many years. Italo was also a member of the NIRA Club and the Italian American Club.
He will be very sorely missed by his loving daughter; Maria N. Miara and her fiance John “Jack” Pedra, both of Lynnfield and loving son; Joseph J. and his wife Catherine Grassello of Wakefield.
His funeral service was celebrated in Sts. Constantine & Helen Church, 71 Chandler Road, Andover on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 3 to 8 PM. Interment was held in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
