Obituary

SALEM- Philip N. Tenney, 89, of Salem, formerly of Danvers, died Sunday evening, July 18, 2004 at the Montserrat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Beverly, following a short illness.

Born in Portland, Maine, he was the son of the late Edward H. and Grace (Favor) Tenney. Raised in Danvers, he was a graduate of Danvers High School, and Macintosh Business School in Lawrence. He lived in Danvers until moving to Salem in 1976.

An Army Air Force veteran of WWII, he served with the 755th Bomber Squadron, 458th Bomber Group in the European theater and held the rank of Corporal.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as the procurement manager for Vulcan Electric in Danvers.

Mr. Tenney was an active member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Salem, where he served as the verger for many years until the mid 1990's. He was a former member of the Amity Lodge, AF & AM of Danvers, and a former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 90 and later, Troop 72, both in Salem.

Although he leaves no immediate family, he is survived by his dear friends, Kenneth and Joan Thompson of S. Hamilton, and his extended family at St. Peter’s Church.

His funeral service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 10 am at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem.
