KARLENE L. (TURNER) HALLOWELL, of Weymouth, formerly of Brockton, passed away on February 17th, 2013 at the age of 84. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Hallowell and mother of Laurie Kilsby and her husband Peter of Brockton and Robyn Griswold and her husband William of Nashua, NH. Grandmother of Adam, Sarah, Katelyn and Bryan. Sister of the late George Turner, Jr. and sister-in-law of Natalie "Sue" Turner of Plymouth. Aunt of George Turner, IIl and his wife Michelle of Duxbury and Robert Turner and his wife Darlene of Easton. Also survived by an extensive circle of family and friends.
Karlene was a graduate of Northeastern University and worked in the accounting field for her entire career. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her family as a member of the Holiday Ramblers Recreational Vehicle Club. She was also an active member of Pearl Street United Methodist Church in Brockton.
Karlene continued to lead an active life after retirement. She was involved in a variety of volunteer activities from knitting hats for newborns to preparing taxes for the elderly. A frequent participant in activities at local churches and senior centers, she loved being around her family and friends. She was a person who was always thinking of others.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 20th at 10:45 AM at St. Nicholas United Methodist Church, 130 Spring St., Hull. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Home Health & Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054 or a charity of choice.
