Gordon L. "Andy" Anderson
Retired Engraver for Hartnett Co.-Woburn

TEWKSBURY: Gordon L. "Andy" Anderson, age 79, a resident of Tewksbury for 50 years, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Lowell General Hospital, from an apparent heart related condition.
He was the beloved husband of Mary C. (MacDougall) Anderson, with whom he celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on July 20, 2012.
Born in Mound City, South Dakota on June 8, 1933, he was the son of the late George H. Anderson and the late Elna (Kightlinger) Anderson.
Andy was raised in Mound City, SD, attended local schools and graduated from Glenham High School in Glenham, SD.
In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Hale (DD-642). Andy was awarded several decorations for his military service including the China Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was employed as an engraver by the Hartnett Company in Woburn, where he worked for 30 years.
Andy resided in Tewksbury since 1963 and was a communicant of St. William's Church.
He was a former coach, manager and umpire for the Tewksbury Little League Program, serving as coach for the "Pirates" .
In addition, he was a member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Post # 2070.
Andy enjoyed sports, dancing, camping, bowling and flower gardening.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two children, Brian K. Anderson and his wife Lisa of Tewksbury and Linda M. Peirce and her husband Harold of Spring Hill, FL; four sisters, Marilyn Salewi of Aberdeen, SD, Phyllis Norgard of Grand Forks, ND, Vivien Keller and her husband Al of Rapid City, SD and Judy Mindt and her husband Gerald of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law, Helen Anderson of Mobridge, SD and Messina Anderson of Cleveland, OK; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Andy was the brother of the late Harvey and Lawrence Anderson and brother-in-law of the late Frank Salewi and Dale Norgard.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 4-8 p.m., in the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. At the request of the family kindly OMIT Flowers.
