Obituary

Margie Nell Hogan, 87, died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Sylvester Healthcare in Sylvester. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery. Rev. Jim Duggan will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24, 2013, immediately following the service at the graveside.

Miss Hogan was born on August 3, 1925 in Worth County to the late Joseph Hogan and Nancy Paul Hogan. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Odell Hogan Douglas; and seven brothers, Wesley, Detroit, Archie, Orbie, Shelley, Earl and Earnest Hogan.

Miss Hogan lived all her life around Ty Ty. She never married nor had children of her own. Instead, she chose to help raise her brothers, after her mother’s death in 1940. Margie continued to keep house and care for her father until his death in August 1969. She worked at Wishbone and JoJo’s in Tifton. She retired from JoJo’s Restaurant in 1986, where she made the best homemade biscuits ever made. After retiring, Margie moved into a mobile home n January 1987, next door to Debra Jones of Ty Ty. This is where she lived until September 2011. After suffering from a stroke, she moved to Sylvester Healthcare. She was a very loving, shy and private person. Her life was based on hard work, cooking and caring for others. Margie’s hobbies were attending gospel sings, quilting, canning, word search puzzles and reading her Bible. She was of the Baptist faith.

Miss Hogan is survived by Debra Jones and Brad Jones of Ty Ty; a sister-in-law, Ann Hogan of Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout this area.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wing 2 at Sylvester Healthcare and Crisp County Chapter of Hospice.
