Obituary

Joseph A. Gauthier, 96, formerly of Hampstead, NH died surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Methuen, MA following a period of declining health. He was born on February 13, 1917 in Lauriville, Quebec, Canada, the only son of Alfred Gauthier and Laurilda (Goulet) (Gauthier) Raymond. Mr. Gauthier was a US Army WWII veteran. He was a truck driver for over 30 years without ever having an accident, and a member of the New England Teamsters. He enjoyed playing Bingo and 45’s, and he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Mr. Gauthier is the Boston Post Cane Holder for the Town of Hampstead.
He is survived by his son Robert A. Gauthier and his longtime partner Kelly Cooke of Houston, TX, his daughter Linda Ross and her husband Jim of Hampstead, NH, one grandson, Neill Ross and his wife Beth, one great-grandson, Dylan Ross, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in 2009 by his wife of 69 years, Juliette R. (Gaudette) Gauthier.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a committal service will be held at a later date in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Nevins Resident Activity Fund, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA 01844.
