Kenneth C. Rausch, 83

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Kenneth C. Rausch, age 83, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield, formerly of Norfolk passed away in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret A. (Donovan) Rausch.
Born in Mankato, Minnesota on February 24, 1929, he was a son of the late Aloysius ad Margaret (Kreutzer) Rausch.
Ken grew up and was educated in Mankato, Minnesota. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged from the service he continued his education and was a graduate of Mankato State College.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Rausch had been employed at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) in Boston. Following a career that spanned 40 years, he retired as an examiner.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 15 years, he had formerly made his home in Norfolk for 25 years. While living in Mansfield he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where he served as a former Eucharistic Minister. While living in Norfolk he was a longtime parishioner of St. Jude’s Church.
Ken was a 4th Degree member and a former past Grand Knight and a former State District Deputy of the Franklin Knights of Columbus Council 1847. He was a former coach of the Norfolk Little League “Tigers” and had also coached Pop Warner Football in Norfolk.
Mr. Rausch’s other interests included gardening, playing poker, fishing and being a handyman extraordinaire and an avid New England sports fan. He was also the proud published author of “My Life As I Saw It.”, a book characterizing the memoirs of his life.
He is survived by his devoted children, Anne M. Rausch of Hopedale, John K. Rausch and his wife Jennifer of Mendon, Lawrence A. Rausch and his wife Abigail of Marblehead, Jennifer S. Mellitt and her husband Roger of Southington, CT and Rebecca M. Paliwodzinski and her husband Robert of Ballston Lake, NY. He was the dear brother of Shirley Kachelmyer of MN, Mary Culligan of FL, Martha Dressel of MN and was predeceased by 7 additional siblings. Mr. Rausch is also survived by his 15 cherished grandchildren, Luke, Rebecca, Marie, Harry, Caleb, Hayden, Sam, Anna, Margaret, Katherine, Lauren, Julia, Grace, Emma, and Nick, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 26th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Norfolk Cemetery in Norfolk.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 25th from 4:30-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
