Sam G. Keris
Dec. 21, 1919 to Feb. 18, 2013

Sam G. Keris, 93, of Anderson died February 18, 2013 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus following an extended illness.
He was born December 21, 1919 in Decatur, IL to George Sam and Pota (Spell) Keris.
He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1937 and attended Millikin University, where he lettered in Basketball.

He served as a Navy Medic attached to the Marine Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theater. Sam and Helen Christ were married on June 2, 1946. They moved to Anderson in 1962 and enjoyed 60 wonderful years together.

Sam was a salesman of J.C. Sales for 25 years. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Carmel and lifetime member of Order of Ahepa. He enjoyed fishing, sports and working puzzles.

Survivors include his son, George (Melanie) Keris of Anderson; sister, Georgia Keris of Green Valley, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Annie Keris of Detroit, MI; Ellen (Mike) Maguire of Fishers; great grandson, Ethan Maguire; sisters-in-law: Emily Keris of Florida, Christine Christ and Joyce Christ, both of Anderson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen (Christ) Keris on May 21, 2006; sister, Angie ( husband Harry) Xamis; 2 brothers, Jim (wife Elaine) Keris and Phil (wife Mary) Beleane, and 2 brothers in law, George Christ and John Christ.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Father Nicholas Greanias officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM on the same day as the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bethany Pointe, Joe, Shelby, Chrissy, Jenny and all the nursing staff, to Dr. Nisi and Lisa, to Dr. Sharief and staff, and to Heartland Hospice for their support and care during Sam's illness.

Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Carmel or Bethany Pointe Health Campus of Anderson.
