Marilyn H. (Hughes) Janes-McLennan, 103, of Methuen, died peacefully Tuesday at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen.
Marilyn, daughter of the late John H. and Alice (Locke), was born in Manchester, NH and moved to Lawrence at 10 years old. She graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1927 and attended the former Berdette College in Boston. She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur Janes and her second husband, Adolph McLennan.
For 42 years prior to her retirement, Marilyn was employed as a Service Advisor for the former New England Telephone Co. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Catholic Daughters of America and communicant of St. Monica’s Church in Methuen.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her son, Richard Janes and his wife Janet of East Moriches, New York; one grandson, Michael Janes and his wife Tara of New York City and two great grandchildren, Anthony and Erin Janes.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Marilyn’s life by gathering for a visiting hour in the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Methuen.
