WESTFORD - Ellen A. “Nelle” (Chase) O’Donnell, age 101, died peacefully at her Westford residence on Sunday, February 17th. She was the beloved wife of the late John Thomas O’Donnell, who died in 1958.
She was born in Tewksbury, July 17, 1911, the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Chase. She lived in Billerica and Tewksbury throughout her life, and moved to her son’s home in Westford four years ago. Prior to retirement, she worked as a shoe stitcher at the Copley Shoe Company in Wakefield.
She is survived by her son, Daniel J. O’Donnell and his partner, Jo Ellyn Cobleigh of Westford; a grandson, Daniel O’Donnell and his wife Danielle of Chelmsford; four great grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, Nicholas, and Brenna; her former daughter-in-law, Esther M. O’Donnell of Deerfield Beach, FL; a nephew, Allen Chase and his wife Debbie of Nashua, NH; a niece, Dorothy King and her husband Coleman of Canton; dear friends, John and Carol Houghton of Westford.
She was predeceased by her son, John Edward O’Donnell; her grandson, James O’Donnell; and three brothers, John Chase, Julius Chase, and Algrid Chase.
Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
