WEBSTER - Richard R. “Dick” Anderson, Sr., 72, of Webster died Friday, February 15, 2013 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home, Worcester, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 22 years, Patricia G. “Tic” (McCarthy) Anderson; 2 sons, Rick Anderson of Cincinnati, OH and David Anderson at home; 2 daughters, Lynda Bailey of Winchendon and Shelby Anderson at home; 4 grandchildren, Ken and Kelly Anderson, and Jaime and Kayla Bailey; a great-grandson Kyle; a brother, Paul Anderson and his wife Joyce of Rutland; nephews and nieces.
He was born and raised in Holden, a son of Paul and Elsa (Soderberg) Anderson. He attended Wachusett Regional High School in Holden. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He moved here in 1998.
Along with his father, Mr. Anderson owned and operated Holden Hardware Company in Holden for many years. He then was a truck driver for CAPA Corp. in Rutland for 10 years before retiring in 2000.
He was an ardent Bruins and Red Sox fan. He loved camping. He was known as a “Mr. Fix-it and Mr. Build-it.” He volunteered to help Boy Scout Troop #173 at Saint Joseph Basilica.
There will be a celebration of his life at the family home on 8 Marilyn Drive on Friday, February 22, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, at noon in Zion Lutheran Church, 70 S. Main Street, Oxford. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
