Muriel Arlene Nichols, 80, of Milbridge, ME, a former Salem, NH, resident, passed away on February 11 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after a brief illness. Born in Tyngsboro, MA, the daughter of Arthur and Bernice Cumming, she attended school in Tyngsboro and Lowell MA.
Muriel worked at Sprague Electric in Nashua, NH, and Data Ed in Salem, NH. Many years ago, Muriel moved from Salem, NH, to Maine, where she worked several local jobs until her retirement. Following retirement, she and her sister June formed the Pins and Needles craft business, sewing and creating beautiful hand-made items they sold at autumn and holiday craft fairs.
Predeceased by her husband, Foch C. Nichols. Muriel leaves her six children and their spouses: Michael and Liz Kierstead of Bryan, TX; Robin and Les McCorison of Acton, ME; Arthur and Susan Kierstead of Londonderry, NH; Brett Kierstead and Jan Higgins of Hampstead, NH; Gary and Diane Kierstead of Raymond, NH; and Gerry and Norma Kierstead of Derry, NH; her sisters Barbara Messier of Nashua, NH; June Prescott and Bunny Whitworth of Maine; her brother, James Cumming of Concord, NH; many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will take place February 23, 2013, from 1 to 3 pm at Douglas and Johnson Funeral Home in Salem, NH, with a service to follow at 3 pm.
