Charlton City
Charles S. Adcock, 87, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 in Oakwood Rehab. & Nursing Center in Webster. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Josephine C. (Wrobel) Adcock , a son, Charles A. Adcock and his wife Joan of Charlton, 3 grandchildren; Christopher and Michael Adcock and Becky Howard, a great grand-daughter, Skylar Rose, 5 sisters; Ruthie and Barbara Jones, Margie Dunn, Mary Dyess, and Fronia Michell, 3 brothers; Johnny, Rubert and Grady Adcock and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Cornet and Cornel Adcock and a sister Mae Whenery. He was a WWII Navy Veteran serving aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico, as a Gunners Mate 3rd Class in the South Pacific. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart . Charles also served aboard other ships including the U.S.S. Indiana. He was Past Commander of South Works Post V.F.W., in Worcester, American Legion, a member of the Webster-Auburn Lodge of Elks, 200 Sportsman Club in Webster, a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Joel H. Prouty Lodge AF & AM in Auburn, Order of the Eastern Star, Melha Temple of Honor in Springfield, Worcester Lodge of Perfection, and Military Order of the Purple Heart. He worked for 33 years at Thompson Steel & Wire in Worcester. Charles was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi a son of Anderson and Stella (Blount) Adcock. He also was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and enjoyed fishing and loved to travel.

The Funeral will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H-Putnam Rd., Ext., followed by burial with Military Honors in Northside Cemetery. Calling Hours will Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old WORCESTER ROAD. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: St. Joseph’s Church,Building Fund, P.O. Box 338, Charlton City, MA. 01508.
