James Floyd passed away Friday, February 15, 2013 at his home near Water Valley, MS. He was born in Water Valley on July 27, 1957 to the late Gabe Floyd and Aileen Davis Floyd. James worked for Travis Sharp with Water Valley Timber for many years, he was a truck driver for Universal Steel and was currently employed as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. James was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hopewell Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow the visitation in the Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery with Bro. Rick Glidewell officiating. Jabo Sharp, Joshua Galloway, Johnathan Galloway, Bobby Sullivan, Brandon Galloway and Eddie Perkins will serve as pallbearers. Kenneth Hobson, Jerry Self, Jessie Hobson, Travis Sharp, and Everette Book will serve as honorary pallbearers.
James is survived by his spouse, Brenda P. Galloway Floyd of Water Valley; two daughters, Shirley A. Galloway (Jerry) and Teresa G. Hobson (Bobby) both of Water Valley, MS; a son, Clardis E. Galloway (Stacy) of Water Valley, MS; two sisters, Ruby Floyd Davis of North Carolina and Elizabeth Carter of Bruce, MS; one brother, Homer Floyd of Randolph, MS; his mother, Aileen Davis Floyd of Calhoun City, MS; his grandchildren, Joshua Galloway, Jessie Hobson, Johnathan Blake Galloway, Matthew Hobson, Everette "Tot" Book, Clardis E. Galloway, Jr., Amber Nicole Galloway, Reina Galloway, Kayla Gilligan, Tequila Sellers, Daisy Harper and Hunter Harper; six great grandchildren and numerous cousins and relatives.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, James Russell Galloway; a sister, Mary Bell Lamar; and a brother, Gabe Floyd, Jr.
