Obituary

Aline Marie (Gagnon) Lavallee, 85, beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Lavallee, to whom she was married for 64 years, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Kindred Skilled Care & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fall River, MA, daughter of the late Jean B. Gagnon and Leah (St. Amour) Gagnon, she had lived in North Dartmouth for most of her life. Mrs. Lavallee was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport, MA. She was an expert seamstress and worked as a sample maker for Kay Windsor in New Bedford and prior to that at Shelburne Shirt in Fall River. She also worked at Mars Bargainland in New Bedford. Prior to her retirement in 1990, she worked as an Information Operator for AT&T in Fall River.
Mrs. Lavallee was a selfless person who spent all of her spare time giving to others. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club in Fairhaven where she made Hug-A-Bears with her husband, Joseph. She made bandages for the lepers and crocheted lap robes for the cancer patients at the Rose Lathrop Cancer Home. She was a talented baker who would sell cakes at bake sales. People would pay any price she named, because the cakes were that good. She was a founding member of the Romeos and Juliets Square Dance Club. She enjoyed performing and sewing costumes for the minstrel shows at her parish. She was an avid animal lover, but was especially fond of birds and cats. She enjoyed travelling with her husband.
She is survived by her daughters Lucille M. Rosa and her husband Joseph of Assonet; Suzanne A. Lavallee of No. Dartmouth; Laurianne J. Duquenoy and her husband Denis of Rehoboth, and by her sons Roger P. Lavallee of No.Dartmouth; Roland E. Lavallee and his wife Ginger of Acushnet. She is survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Theodore L. Lavallee; her brothers, Roger Gagnon, Antoine Gagnon, a sister, Estelle Dion, and a grandson, Lance Lavallee.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 4-7 P.M.
Interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
