Obituary

Halifax – Romena G. (Bowden) Johnson 93, died Wednesday February 13 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of seventy years the late J. Edward Johnson.

Born and raised in Brockton she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. and Ruth E. (Freeman) Bowden and a graduate of Brockton High, and had furthered her education graduating from LaSalle Jr. College.

Before her retirement and move to Halifax in 1990, Romena had been a longtime resident of Brockton. She had been an active member of the Christ Congregational Church of Brockton, where she also served as secretary for the parish.

She loved working on her numerous craft projects, and was a familiar face as she enjoyed her daily walks.

She is survived by her loving children Kenneth G. Johnson and his wife Shirley of West Warwick, RI, Paul E. Johnson and his wife Pamela R. of Hanson, and Virginia K. Lombardi of Carver. She is also survived by four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Harold and Robert Bowden.

Her funeral service will be held Monday February 18 at 4 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the First Parish Cemetery, York Village, ME. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 2-4 PM.
