Obituary

Henry A. Efimetz, age 86, of Lynn, died at Salem Hospital after a brief illness Feb. 12.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Walter and Jennie (Puito) Efimetz, and the husband of the late Frances S. (Popkowski) Efimetz. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.

He was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army, serving in central Europe.

After being discharged, he was a fireman for the City of Lynn, stationed at Tower Hill for two years. Following that he worked at the Lynn Post Office as a letter carrier and retired in Boston as a clerk after 35 years.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64 and the Polish Legion American Veterans Post 56.

He is survived by three sons, David A. and his wife Ann Efimetz of Williamsburg, Va., Peter A. Efimetz of Lynn and Paul H. and his wife Alison Efimetz of Spartanburg, S.C.; and one daughter, Christine A. Efimetz of Lynn; one niece, Jane Meechin of Danvers. Also four grandchildren, Katherine, Mary, Amanda and Nicole Efimetz. He also was the brother of the late Michael and Walter Tkach.

Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the NADWORNY Funeral Home, 798 Western Ave., Lynn Saturday at 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Pius V Church at 12 p.m. followed by cremation in Harmony Grove Crematory, Salem. Private burial will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
